Hiring a boat couldn’t be simpler, just book a day and we’ll meet you at the ramp, launch the boat and off you go! Whether you want to hire a boat just to cruise around the bay stopping at a beach for a BBQ / picnic or want to go fishing, diving or snorkelling, the choice is yours. You don’t even have to wash the boat down at the end of the day!

We offer skippered or self drive boat hire (depending on experience) and do everything we can to ensure you get the best from your trip to the Bay of Islands. From the convenience of your own boat you can skipper or be skippered to locations of your choice; over 144 spectacular islands with secluded bays to choose from including some of the best game and small tackle fishing the Bay of Islands has to offer.
Self Drive Hire
If you have practical experience in power boating and hold a Boat Course and VHF certificate – ALL GOOD – you can skipper yourself in the bay!
Skippered Hire
If you’re a bit short of experience or don’t want the responsibility of managing the boat or navigation – NO WORRIES - our tourism certified skippers have the knowledge to guide you around the bay to ensure you get the very most from your trip.
*From just $450 per day or $350 per half day
Self Drive Hire – per full day is $450 – per half day is $350 Skippered Hire – per full day is $550 – per half day is $450
*Fuel is paid for at the end of the charter by the hirer
Hiring a boat is the best way to see all the magic the Bay of Islands has to offer and the only way to see many of the islands which are inaccessible by road.

The Bay of Islands is stunning but I really wanted to see Whangaroa harbour from the water.
I heard of Bay of Islands Boat Hire and with friends booked the boat, with local skipper and we set the itinerary.
Whangaroa harbour is beautiful and from the water just stunning, also toured the Cavalli Islands where we caught our own fish supper. An excellent day! Highly recommended.
